Here’s something that may surprise you. While the general workforce has decreased around the globe, the rate of women and people 55 to 64 years old who are employed has actually increased.
People in Iceland and Switzerland love to work: 79 percent of the population is employed. Norway, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and Austria round out the top 10.
The United States comes in at No. 15 with 67 percent of the population being employed. Of that group, 17 percent are under the age of 24. Twenty-eight percent of them are under the age of 55, and 22 percent of employees are over the age of 55.
