Topics:

The economic uncertainty over the past several years has caused many jobseekers to consider going back to school. This infographic examines some of the statistics around higher education to help you weigh your decision.

Since 1970, master’s degree program enrollment has grown by over 200 percent. Some of the best degrees to get include computer science, with a mid-career median pay at $109,000; electrical engineering, with mid-career pay at $121,000; and information systems, with a $95,500 median mid-career pay.

Degrees that are considered some of the worst for those going back to school, based on projected employment increase and mid-career median pay, include English, library and information science, music, biology and chemistry. Even venerated careers like education, counseling and architecture made it under the infographic’s “worst” category.
