We released the latest version of the PayScale consumer website yesterday. Here is the rundown of what we shipped, and why it's great.
School Pages in the Research Center
PayScale generates a lot of really interesting reports and rankings, like our College ROI and College Salary Report. But, we've never made the school rankings available in our Research Center. So, we integrated our rankings, data from the government, from Wikipedia, and from you (our users) to create a resource for prospective students, current students, parents and alumni.
The new hotness:
You can see what PayScale thinks about Stanford, which is to say: we like it.
Also, you might be thinking: "this isn't what the Research Center looks like." And, you're right. We've been working on a new design for the Research Center, and the pages about colleges are the first ones to get the new design. Do you have feedback? Comment below! Eventually, you'll see a very similar design throughout the rest of the site.
Here is what the Stanford page looked like last week, if you want to compare the new hotness to the old page:
Ratings and Reviews
Next up, getting your input about your school. Did you love your university experience? Did you hate it? Was it just so-so? You can now tell us about it! I happen to have already written a review for my alma mater, check out the University of Idaho reviews. Go ahead and find your school, and leave a review.
About Us Reflects Us
You might not think about it very often, but the "About Us" section of a site can really reflect a lot about what the company is like. For a long time, ours reflected the fact that we were a small team laser-beam focused on business goals… which is to say: About Us was neglected. Having a shiny new About Us is now a business goal for us, because we need to show you how awesome we are, so you want to work here. WE'RE HIRING! Our About Us section has been completely rewritten and now provides a much better picture of who we are as a company. You can now see pictures from company parties, read about our data scientists, and more. Read more About Us.
Finding the Right Answer
There are no pretty pictures of what we're doing here, hopefully just a bunch of happy users. When you're taking the PayScale Salary Survey, we present you with options to find the best matching answer that might already exist in our system. Sometimes, it can be hard to find the right existing answer. So, we spent some time this release working on our algorithm to make it easier to find what you're looking for.
Your Thoughts?
What do you think of the new features? We would really love to hear from you.
