This Job Exists: Professional Writer for Tinder, OKCupid Profiles

Topics:

If you have a way with words and yen to help other people make their romantic dreams come true, one Chicago company has the job for you. Virtual Dating Assistants is hiring creative writers to “woo women” on popular dating sites and apps.

Its Craigslist ad reads:

Do You Know What You're Worth?

What if you could get PAID to woo women and get them to respond to your messages?

Believe it or not, this sort of job actually does exist. Our business has been featured all over the media by outlets like FOX, the Today Show and the Washington Post… And we’ll pay you to write profiles and messages for our clients while sitting at home in your underwear.

Right now, we have part and full-time opportunities available and we’re looking to hire ASAP.

As Chicagoist points out, the job seems to be solely for people who wish to write in the persona of men who are pursuing women, and it pays $13 to $15 an hour.

According to PayScale’s Salary Survey, writers in the Chicago area with at least two years of experience and a bachelor’s degree can earn around $40,000 a year — in other words, a bit more than the $30,000 or so you’d earn as a full-time profile writer.

But if you’re looking for a part-time copywriting gig that’s a little different than the usual ad copy or blog posting, becoming a dating app ghostwriter might be just the thing.
