Women have been making some major strides in the business world. In the last 15 years, we have seen a major increase in the number of female entrepreneurs and women-owned businesses. This infographic by Credit Donkey outlines just a few of the accomplishments businesswomen have made.
America saw a 44 percent growth in women-owned businesses from 1997 to 2007, a growth that doubles the increase in businesses owned by men. In 2007, women owned 30 percent of all businesses in America, which is a major jump compared to 3.9 percent in 1997.
The majority of businesses owned by females seem to be in California, Texas and New York. Many of these companies are in health care, social assistance, scientific, technical, retail, administrative and the waste management industries.
