It’s no secret that when you post content on a social media site, the chances of expecting complete privacy are quite small. You might be surprised just how small they are, though.
In 2009, Facebook changed its privacy settings without warning users. The result exposed personal information to the public, such as a user’s “About Me” page, friends list and profile pictures.
In a frightening statistic, 4.8 million users post where they will be and when. This opens people up to home burglaries if the wrong person comes across the information. It doesn’t help that Facebook made a manual option to switch privacy settings to “Friends only.” Especially considering that 13 million users in the U.S. alone have never even opened up their privacy settings.
