PayScale’s New Hero Awards Recognize Work Cultures Employees Love

Topics: Retention

In a world where the talent market is tight, a world where employees have many choices as to where they commit their time and talents, it can be incredibly difficult for organizations to maintain a culture that continuously motivates employees and retains their loyalty.

This is a world that needs heroes. Is your organization one of them?

PayScale believes that organizations can be heroes, too. And PayScale’s new Hero Awards recognize organizations that are creating positive and transparent workplace cultures that employees love.

“It’s important to recognize organizations where employees believe the right things are being done to ensure they are empowered and motivated to do their best work,” says Mike Metzger, mild-mannered PayScale CEO by day, PayScale Hero by … happy hour. “Consumers, citizens, partners and investors should feel good about aligning themselves with the organizations being recognized today, endorsed directly by their employees.”

PayScale’s Hero Awards feature employers who get high marks from their workforce on key employee engagement metrics, and our first list highlights organizations where at least 80 percent of their employees agree or strongly agree with this statement: “I am extremely satisfied working for my employer.” Overall, PayScale examined 276,067 employee profiles from 62,501 distinct employers. These profiles were collected between November 2015 and November 2017.

High employee engagement generally correlates to a high level of productivity, a high level of employee retention, and a low turnover rate, meaning it’s good for employees and employers alike.

The list of organizations with the most satisfied employees includes everything from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies and spans industries from health care to tech to manufacturing. The organizations are headquartered in 41 different U.S. states plus the District of Columbia.

Notable organizations on our first list of PayScale Heroes include Delta Airlines Inc., Facebook Inc., the Hearst Corporation, Blizzard Entertainment, Hyatt Hotels, Ford Motor Company and many, many more.

And now they’ve officially earned their PayScale Hero status, we’ve awarded these organizations a digital Hero badge to embed on their website. We’ve also sent them a real-life superhero cape, so they look the part when sharing photos of their super-team on social media, along with the hashtag #psherostatus.
