Even if you love your employer, you might not describe them as heroic. The usual definition — daring, noble, courageous — applies more often to exceptional people, not exceptional organizations.

Here at PayScale, we’re hoping to change all that. We believe that employers can be heroes, too — and that in this job market, they should be. As an employee in a market with a 4.1 percent unemployment rate, you have a choice about where you use your talents. Only the best organizations will win your commitment and loyalty.

PayScale’s Hero Awards recognizes organizations that create company cultures that inspire employee loyalty, satisfaction and motivation. If you want to love going to work every day, and feel motivated to do your best work while you’re there, one of these employers might be the perfect fit for you.

Better yet: maybe your employer has already made the list. If so, enjoy the reminder that you’ve found your place with an organization that takes company culture to new, heroic heights.

Does Your Employer Have What It Takes to Be a PayScale Hero?

Drawing from PayScale’s employee survey, we looked at 276,067 salary profiles from 62,501 distinct employers. All profiles were collected between November 2015 and November 2017. To be a PayScale Hero, companies have to create cultures that employees love.

Throughout 2018, we’ll recognize organizations that earn high marks from their workers on metrics like fair pay process, relationship with manager, communication and appreciation. For our first list of heroes, we focused on employer satisfaction.

Respondents were asked to answer the statement, “I am extremely satisfied working for my employer,” using a five-point scale from 1 – Strongly Disagree to 5 – Strongly Agree. PayScale Heroes had at least 80 percent of employees choosing 4 or 5 on the scale.

These were the top 10 employers:

Other notable employers on list of PayScale Heroes include Delta Airlines Inc., Facebook Inc., the Hearst Corporation, Ford Motor Company, St. Jude’s Research Hospital and Deere & Company.
