It’s only been a few hours since Amazon Web Services went down. And for the majority of companies and employees whose products and arsenal of digital tools rely on AWS functionality, frustration has been a key theme throughout the day.
But if you find yourself staring blankly at your screen wondering how the heck you’re going to be a productive employee today without your normal set of digital resources (including the occasional GIF from Imgur), here are some things you might want to consider.
Have Some Real Life Face Time With Your Boss
When stuff is broken and it’s not up to you to fix it, take advantage of the opportunity by getting some 1-on-1 time with your boss or manager. Since you all have nothing better to do, now might be a good time to open up a conversation about your salary, or even that next promotion you’ve been working toward.
Make a To-Do List For When the Cloud Gets Back Up
Once this situation is fixed, everything will be back up at once. Take some time now to prioritize the things you need to get done. When things like this are completely outside your control, it’s easy to get panicky and anxious. Making a list is an easy way to help you stay on track and get back to business once things go back to normal.
Go For a Walk
It’s been proven time after time that getting away from your desk and your office can help clear your mind and allow you to be more productive once you get back to work. Sometimes the world sends you signs that you need to take a little break. Perhaps today is that day?
