Man So Angry About Jell-O Stolen From Office Fridge, He Calls the Police

Topics:

When you work in an office, it’s not the big things that get you down. The late nights, the last-minute emergencies — we are professionals, and can handle all that with aplomb. But if someone swipes our sandwich or mid-afternoon treat out of the fridge, watch out.

At least, that’s the one explanation for what happened to the unnamed Pennsylvania man who called the cops last week because somebody stole his strawberry-flavored Jell-O out of the office fridge.

Do You Know What You're Worth?

Several things of note about this case, according to the police report, helpfully posted on The Smoking Gun:

1. The incident took place at a warehouse belonging to Wakefern, which is a cooperative group of supermarkets. That seems especially ironic and unfair. Jell-O, Jell-O everywhere, etc.

2. The victim reported his crime at 11:30 at night, which means that he either spent all day stewing about his stolen goods, or was working a night shift when he discovered that his Jell-O — possibly the one joy in his long, long evening! — had been stolen.

3. The police report reads: “The employee continued that this was not the first time that his food had been stolen from the refrigerator.” That’s obviously totally unacceptable, and it’s hard not to be on this guy’s side at that point.

According to The Smoking Gun, local police are taking the theft seriously, calling it an “open investigation” and not ruling out a future arrest.

So think twice before you steal a co-worker’s snack stash. You could wind up in jail. (Or at least, on The Smoking Gun.)

Unforunately a lot of us have experienced this in the office. At the lab our milk for tea kept disappearing, so one day while eveyone was around my friend said to me “I wonder who keeps taking my milk, I hope they know its breast milk. problem solved no one touched the milk after that.

I agree, it’s not the Jell-O that’s the problem here, but the lack of respect. That highlights bigger challenges at the company, and it would considered an indicator, to me at least, of at least one person who’s not a team player.  Yes, we laugh about it, but if this person is disgruntled about going to work and not happy being there. That has a very negative impact on productivity and quality of work, something companies should take seriously as… Read more »

Its funny.  I got a good chuckle.  But the reality is, it isn’t the jello he is upset over.  Its probably the lack of respect, the bullying.

He co-workers better watch it though.  Once he finds out who is doing it, he’ll go ‘postal’ on them.  Heck, he might even use a gun
