We’re Learning More About Your Employers

Welcome to another installment of "here is what PayScale is up to." 

This release, we focused on improving our Employer Salary pages in the PayScale Research Center. We'll use the Salaries at Boeing page as our example, and I'll walk you through that.

First off, we started with an updated design. We've come up with a set of new visual components and design that we're implementing across the site. (We've previously updated our Survey, School pages — like the Stanford Alumni Salary page – and Your Personal Report page).

Using the same technology that we use to produce The PayScale Index, we can determine how a company pays its employees compared to the market for those employees. For example, companies like Amazon and Microsoft pay more than other companies employing the same type of employees, because it means they can hire and retain better employees.

We've gone out and scoured Wikipedia and Freebase to learn more about the companies that employ you and I. We've surfaced this data alongside our salary data to help you get a better understanding of these companies. There is also a way for you to inform us of updates to this data, too (there is a "Suggest Changes" link at the bottom of the left column).

We've opened up the ability for people to leave comments on each company as well. I used to work at Boeing, so I left my review for what I thought about that experience. If you have an employer you'd like to review… please do!

There are some other things we're working on related to colleges, but we can't announce them until the next release (Sept 25th).
