Yammer CEO Woos Yahoo Employees With $25,000 Signing Bonus

Topics:

Yammer CEO David Sacks has made a bold public appeal to current Yahoo! employees: come and work for us, and receive a $25,000 signing bonus. What recession?

Do You Know What You're Worth?

This lucrative offer isn’t because Sacks is a Yahoo ally in the slightest. Earlier in the week, he used his Twitter account to encourage Silicon Valley employers to blackball Yahoo employees due to the tech company’s patent lawsuit against Facebook.

“If established companies like Yahoo decide that patent trolling is a legitimate form of business, it will destroy Silicon Valley,” he told Wired. “The only check on their behavior is community outrage.”

David Sacks’ $25,000 signing bonus is only good for Yahoo employees who get hired at Yammer in the next 60 days; after that point, he’s staying true to his word and will never hire another Yahoo employee who stays with the company after this two-month period.

Yammer is a private social network for companies — think Twitter or Facebook for just your office — and boasts over 4 million users. Over 85 percent of the Fortune 500 use Yammer, according to TechCrunch. What do you think of David Sacks’ strategy to woo Yahoo employees?
