The online dating profiles of workers in certain fields tend to get more attention than others. Tinder recently crunched the numbers to find out which jobs were most desirable, according to their users. Did your job make the list?

The dating app Tinder asks folks to swipe right or left, based on first impressions.

But, there isn’t much information for users to go on. There’s a picture, a couple of words about location and maybe a few short sentences about lifestyle, background, education and career. Last month, Tinder released a list of the most “swiped-right” jobs. The list was based on the U.S.-based user profiles that received the highest ratio of right swipes in 2018.

“I think the thing that has shocked me [in developing Tinder] is that when it comes to establishing an initial impression, there’s a very finite set of things we look at to decide whether we want to have a conversation with someone,” said Sean Rad, then-CEO of Tinder, in an interview with Business Insider in 2015. “How you look — and what that says about your personality — common connections, career, education. Ninety percent of it comes down to that.”

Do You Know What You're Worth?

Let’s take a closer look at a few of the jobs that topped the list for both men and women.

Women:

  1. Registered Nurse – $29.19 average per hour earnings
  2. Dentist – $125,660 average annual salary
  3. Photographer – $43,173 average annual salary
  4. College/Graduate Student
  5. Pharmacist – $111,147 average annual salary

The job of registered nurse isn’t much of a surprise in the number one position. This career has been viewed as attractive in a cliched way for decades, but perhaps for the wrong reasons. There are things that nurses want you to know about what their jobs are really like.

It’s also interesting to note that the occupation of “model” didn’t make the list for women (it was number 10 in 2016) but it did for men. It came in at number eight on their list, just like it did two years ago. Notably, three of the jobs occupying the top spots for women this year are from the booming healthcare industry.

Men:

  1. Interior Designer – $46,837 average annual salary
  2. Pilot – $89,869 average annual salary
  3. Physician Assistant – $92,325 average annual salary
  4. Lawyer – $81,994 average annual salary
  5. PR/Communications – $63,508 average annual salary

Pilots came in first on the 2016 list, but interior designers now occupy that top spot. Another notable change is the movement of the job of “founder/entrepreneur” from the number two spot in 2016 to number 15 on this year’s list. This is a significant drop. It could indicate less faith in the economy’s capacity to support entrepreneurs and new businesses. However, “founder/entrepreneur” did make its way to the women’s list this year, coming in at number eight.

Some jobs made both top 15 lists. The occupations of lawyer, teacher, and college/graduate student were popular for both genders.
