As the election nears, and as current events and debate performances impact perception of the presidential hopefuls, we’re tracking changes in our respondents’ support for each candidate. We’re also providing unique new data you can’t find anywhere else.
For this most recent post, PayScale surveyed 42,422 users between the weeks of August 5, 2016 and October 3, 2016 to see how they’re casting their vote. Among the most interesting takeaways? As of the week of October 3, for the first time since we began tracking candidate support, Clinton has a lead among male respondents.

Interesting takeaways:
- Clinton has held a large lead among overall PayScale users, and that lead has expanded dramatically in the past few weeks.
- Clinton’s support has grown to 37 percent among overall users, the highest level of support she has enjoyed since we started tracking this data in the week of August 5.
- As support for Trump has declined, the number of users reporting they do not intend to vote has also risen.
Interesting takeaways:
- As of October 10, for the first time since we began tracking candidate support among PayScale users, Clinton has a lead among male respondents: 29 percent to 28 percent, respectively.
Interesting takeaways:
- As of the week of October 3, support for Clinton from female respondents stands at 46 percent.
- This is the highest level of support Clinton has held since we began tracking this data in the week of August 5.
- Clinton’s gains have mirrored a decline in undecided female respondents, indicating her growing support is coming from this group.
