If you’ve been single within the last year, you’ve probably heard of Tinder — the dating app that allows you to swipe right or left to indicate your interest in a potential new boyfriend or girlfriend. Based on that idea of matching users with what they want in life, a new app called Jobr offers to help job seekers find their next gig.

With Jobr, job applicants on iOS or Android devices connect their LinkedIn profile (just as Tinder users sync their Facebook profiles) and then scan through jobs by swiping left or right to indicate their interest in the position. The app then creates a profile for you on the app based on your job history and skills listed on your LinkedIn profile.
When you swipe through jobs on the app, you’ll be able to see information about the company and the job requirements, how many of your contacts work there, and which job skills match those you have. Recruiters can also review potential candidates by also swiping through their profiles on Jobr.
Right now, jobs that are available on Jobr are sourced from both companies that are on board with Jobr’s approach to recruiting talent, and also by pulling in jobs found on the web. In the latter case, if Jobr sees a lot of interest from users in a specific job, it will act as an intermediary to try to get those candidates in front of recruiters at that company.
What might be most interesting for users of Jobr right now is the referral bonus that you could receive for helping your friends get jobs by using the app. Right now, if you refer a job to a friend who then downloads the app, swipes right to indicate their interest in the job and then gets hired, you’ll receive a $1,000 Jobr. It’s a nice bit of cash, so even if you’re not looking for a job, you might want to check the app out just to help our your friends — and maybe make a little extra money on the side.
