Healthy Secrets of America’s 3 Busiest Airports

Topics:

There’s a reason that the question goes, “Business or pleasure?” Generally, if you’re traveling for the former, you won’t have time for the latter. In fact, business travel can be a stressful, unhealthy activity, if you’re not careful.

One thing you can do to offset the anxiety-producing aspects of flying for work is to seek out the healthy oases at many of our airports. If you’re flying from any of The Flipkey Blog‘s best airports for health and wellness, for example, you’ll have no trouble finding spa services, healthy snacks, and even the occasional yoga class.

Do You Know What You're Worth?

But you don’t have to rearrange your trip to hit those hotspots. These are the hidden healthy perks of the three busiest airports in the U.S. — in other words, the ones you’re most likely wind up stuck in while waiting for that connecting flight.

1. Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport

There’s a saying in the south: “I don’t know where I’m going to die, but one things for sure: I’ll change planes in Atlanta.” Thanks in part to Delta’s hub, Atlanta is the busiest airport in the U.S. It’s also home to a branch of the XpresSpa franchise, where you can get a chair massage (or a mani-pedi) to relax away travel stress.

2. O’Hare International Airport, Chicago

A recent study named Chicago’s O’Hare the country’s most stressful airport. No worries, though: O’Hare has several spa services at its various terminals, and if you have a really long layover, you can always walk over to the Hilton, which is connected to Terminal 2 and offers fitness day passes, pool facilities, and massage services.

3. Los Angeles International Airport

What’s as relaxing as a chair massage, but a lot cuddlier? Therapy dogs. LAX started the PUP (Pets Unstressing People) program this year to a great deal of positive feedback. (And probably squeals of joy.)
