Ford Taps Into Social Media to Fill More Than 3,000 Jobs

Ford Motor Company launched a social campaign called, “The Distance Between You and an Amazing Career Has Never Been Shorter” to spread the word about the thousands of jobs the company is looking to fill this year. Social media has now become a popular and effective way for employers to seek out candidates.

For those of you who are interested, here’s what Ford is looking for:

– Ford will hire 3,000 salaried employees — 800 more than previously expected — this year to continue its product momentum and new growth. Of the 3,000 new hires, 80 percent will be technical professionals to meet demand for new skills; 85 to 90 percent will be in Michigan, with the remaining positions at Ford locations throughout the United States.

– Ford launches advertising campaign with expanded use of social media to target prospective employees.

– New salaried positions are in addition to company’s goal to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the U.S. by 2015.

According to Felicia Fields, Ford’s VP of Human Resources, Ford has already filled 50 percent of the 3,000 job availabilities, and is seeking out professionals who are “interested in working for a diverse global leader in a huge growth mode” to fill the 1,500 or so vacancies.
