Becoming a nurse practitioner requires a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), while a doctor of nursing practice requires a master of science in nursing (MSN). After you graduate, your average salary as a nurse practitioner will be $90,583, while a career as a doctor of nursing practice will earn a salary of $98,826.
A nurse practitioner collaborates with doctors and is usually responsible for diagnostic tests and diagnosing chronic conditions. They also write prescriptions and work very closely with patients. A doctor in nursing practice has more of a leadership role and manages health care delivery roles. They also have an influence on health policy and have a focus on the health care system as a whole.

This information is not correct. Nurse Practitioners require a Master’s Degree, while a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) requires doctorate-level preparation.
I think some readers are not comprehending this graph. It makes perfect sense. It clearly implies that the most common educational requirements to obtain APRN credentials is to have a BSN to aquire a NP specialized degree and respectively a MSN to aquire a DNP specialized degree.
Absolutely. This information is not correct as stated in previous comments. The average Nurse Practitioner Salaries are not that high. In fact the national average is about $72,000 and you need a master’s degree for that. A BSN makes you a RN. The DNP is a higher level degree and you will need to obtain a doctorate for that. Happened across the article. It’s old anyway, but totally incorrect about what degree you need to be called a Nurse Practitioner or DNP. Clearly a Doctor cannot be a Masters degree!
I think she states that you need the respective degrees to enter the programs. I read it differently in two different places.
