Study Finds That Women Work Harder Than Men

Topics:

If you’re like most women, you’re celebrating International Women’s Day by working both longer and harder than men. At least, that’s what recent research from the Ponemon Institute found.

The Institute performed the study on behalf of 3M, which wanted to measure its privacy filter. Using a sample of 274 workers, 53 percent female and 47 percent male, the researchers measured how long subjects worked both with and without a privacy filter. With a filter, female subjects worker 2.5 minutes out of ten, while male subjects worked 2.1 minutes out of ten. Without a filter, women worked 4.9 minutes out of ten, compared to 4.3 minutes for men.

And that’s not all:

Do You Know What You're Worth?

“When given the opportunity to walk away during an experimental waiting period 38 percent of female workers walked away compared to 52 percent of male workers,” writes Elise Ackerman at Forbes.

In other words, according to this study, women work both longer and harder than men. Another finding of note: men worked less when women were around, 3.6 minutes with female workers around, as opposed to 4 minutes without.
