Who knew that playing games could actually become a career? Better yet, you can help design the games people love to play. This Schools.com infographic reveals how to become a game designer.
A game designer is the visionary behind the game. He or she creates the layout, look and feel of the game. The designer also builds 2-D and 3-D animations, creates graphics and does research for game realism. If you’re at the top 10 percent of your “game,” you can make upwards of $109,370. The average designer makes around $60,830.
It’s not just a man’s world, either. Just since 2009, the number of women hired by game companies has tripled. Back in 1989, women didn’t even make up 3 percent of the game industry workforce. Today, they make up the equivalent of about 11 percent. With growth like this, the numbers are sure to continue evolving.
