Online Retail By the Numbers [infographic]

Are you ready for this? An astounding 40 percent of people will abandon a website if it takes longer than three seconds to load. That’s why it’s essential to have your website up and running in top form, as this Rackspace infographic proves.

There’s a lot of money to be made in the online shopping community. In 2012 alone, people spent $226 billion shopping for what they need online. That money was spent between 167 million shoppers. The average consumer spends $1,207 each year shopping online.

Is your business ready to accommodate those shoppers? You’d better hope so, since 72 percent of visitors will abandon your site and go to a competing site if your site fails to load properly. As terrible as that is, what’s even worse is that 58 percent of those that leave will never return.
