The U.S. may be known as the no-vacation nation, but Matt Kepnes recently crunched the numbers and revealed that most office workers have far more free travel days than they might think. When you take weekends into play, the standard two-week vacation most of us imagine grows to a whopping 110 potential days a year to travel. That’s four months!
Of course, the trips you’ll be able to take in the span of a single weekend are probably limited to staycations, short flights or reasonable drives. But when you’re feeling trapped at your cubicle, a drive out to the country or beach for a weekend might be just what you need to unwind. And let’s face it: it would do us all some good to invest in our local economy via a staycation.
“In travel, less is more,” wrote Kepnes. “You may not have months to travel, but that doesn’t mean you can’t travel at all.” To make the most of weekend travel, Kepnes recommends travelers to resist the temptation of overloading their itinerary and remain relatively flexible instead.
