Square to Host Three-Day Code Camp for Female Engineers

Topics:

Square, a mobile payment startup company based in San Francisco, has announced plans to host a three-day Code Camp exclusively for female engineers. Can this program entice more women to pursue careers in engineering?

Square certainly hopes so. “We developed this contest to inspire and encourage female engineering students,” a spokeswoman told Inc.com. “There is a great deal of talent across the country and we think an immersion program is a fantastic way for students to learn more about the fields they hope to enter, make new friends and meet leaders in their industry.”

Full-time students over the age of 18 in the U.S. or Canada who are working towards a degree in technical majors like computer engineering or computer science are eligible to apply. Code Camp’s 15 participants will go through a three-day, all-expenses-paid program in San Francisco wherein they’ll be mentored by Square executives, tour the Bay Area, attend hosted question-and-answer sessions and participate in hands-on workshops alongside Square engineers.

Interested individuals should apply here before 5 p.m. on Friday, November 2.
