Have you ever wondered what companies are searching for your name? BrandYourself, an online reputation management tool, launched a new feature yesterday that can tell you just that.
Central to this feature is the expansive collection BrandYourself has built of company IP addresses that are publicly available. Should someone visit your BrandYourself profile from an IP address that belongs to, say, Ford or Panasonic, the tool can track that data and the keywords that person used to arrive at your profile. One caveat, though, is that the company's database may not include smaller organizations or brand-new startups.
"They are being Googled," said Patrick Ambron, the cofounder of BrandYourself, to Mashable. "It gives them an idea of who is looking them up, and it motivates them to update their profile and make sure they're putting their best foot forward. [It's] similar to how LinkedIn and MyLife do it between their internal users, except applied to the entire Web."
Do you think BrandYourself's new tool can help focus your efforts in managing your online reputation?
