Worst College Majors for Job Interview Prospects [infographic]

Topics:

This infographic from Best Degree Programs sheds light on some of the worst college majors for job interview prospects by comparing grads' unemployment rates to the average starting salary for each major. Can you predict what majors were named the best of the worst?

If you're looking to make the big bucks right out of school, you'd better steer clear of an architecture degree: grads with architecture degrees have a 13.9 percent unemployment rate and earn $36,000 if they're lucky enough to find a job out of school. Another area of study hit hard by the recession is the arts; poetry and art history grads have an 11.1 percent unemployment rate and have respective starting salaries of $30,000 and $39,000.

Other college majors that haven't yielded much success for grads in the job hunt include humanities and liberal arts, political science, sociology, economics and recreation. Even traditionally lucrative majors have seen a spike in unemployment: 8.1 percent of law and public policy grads are unemployed, for example, as are 8.2 percent of computer and mathematics majors.
