Want a Trouble-Free Employer? Advice for Job Seekers

Topics:

By Bridget Quigg

Want to the inside scoop on an employer, beyond salary and bonus information? What if current or former employees at a company could tell you about work schedules, time off and the company culture? They can. Instead of going to their offices and asking the employees themselves, you can take a look at PayScale’s handy new “Compare Employers” feature.

Our “Compare Employers” feature makes it easy for you to compare how stressed out, satisfied or well-paid employees are at certain companies. For example, do you know which company, Amazon or Microsoft, offers more vacation weeks per year? Their employees have shared this information and now you can read it on PayScale. (Answer: Microsoft gives more.)

A lot of the data in our “Compare Employers” section helps you understand how it “feels” to work at hundreds of different companies. This information is especially important as the economy slowly unfreezes. Job opportunities are popping up, particularly in technology and healthcare. And, as your career develops, you want to choose the company and position that provides you the best work-life balance and happiness on the job.

Do You Know What You're Worth?

Let’s explore some examples of how you could compare companies and make a more informed decision about who gets your time and talents.
